Our Families

Sandy Mitchell

Above is a picture of Ms. Sandy Mitchell, from Ridgely, MD and her sister Diane. Once a very independent woman, who loved to do the yardwork for her home, like raking and burning the leaves, and cutting her grass, also going on cruises and going to Kingdom Hall for Jehovah's Witness meetings were some of Sandy's favorite things to do. After a few years of undiagnosed pain and surgeries and procedures, Sandy was finally diagnosed with ALS in June of 2023. Her mobility and independence was decreasing, and transporting her from her home to a vehicle became a huge feat on those involved, especially Sandy herself. We gifted a wheelchair accessible van to Sandy for her family to be able to easily and safely transport her in and out of the house. Being one of five siblings, a mother to one and a grandmother to two, Sandy is now able to spend time with any one of her family members or loved ones, whenever she chooses, and is also able to make it to her doctor's appointments and Jehovah's Witnesses meetings safely and comfortably.
Roger Ballard

Above is a picture of Mr. Roger Ballard, his wife Mary, two of his children, Brent and Brittany, his daughter-in-law, Carly, and his grandson, Milo. Roger and his wife, who are from Kent Island, MD, are the parents to three children, and grandparents to four grandchildren. Roger was employed by and retired from the Capitol District of DC Post Office in Silver Spring for thirty five and a half years, and then went on to drive a school bus for another sixteen and a half years. His caretaker, support system, and wife, Mary retired from Queen Anne County Public Schools, as a secretary after seventeen and a half years. When asked about their ambition and goals regarding their work, we were told they worked hard and stayed dedicated to be able to put all three of their children through college, which they successfully did. Bryan, their oldest son, lives in New Jersey with his wife and their two children. Bryan is a Reverand for his church and is currently going back to school to receive his Doctorate Degree. Brent, their youngest son was in the Navy for eight years of active duty, and currently works as a Nuclear Engineer. He is married to Carly, and together they have their son, Milo (pictured). Their daughter, Brittany lives in Queenstown, MD, and works at John's Hopkins as an Engineer in the Space Program. She is married and has one child.

Thankfully, while dealing with this horrific disease, Roger has an amazing and supportive family standing behind him. Carly and Brent contacted us and let us know that their family was going through quite a bit of trouble. Mary and Roger, who loved to go on day trips to the beach, be apart of bowling leagues and square dancing dates, were now unable to leave their house without a great deal of trouble. We gifted Roger and his family a wheelchair accessible van, to allow easier and more comfortable transportation for both Roger, and those involved. Now, Roger and Mary are able to travel to Salisbury, MD for Roger's doctor's appointments, and also were able to travel to New Jersey, with the company of their immediate family, to meet their new grandchild.
Richard Niblett

Richard Niblett, and his wife Betsy are based in Salisbury, MD. Betsy contacted us regarding some financial assistance with medical equipment for her husband, such as a nebulizer and a cough assist device. Betsy and Richard live as fruitful of a life as they can. Richard was apart of the Vietnam war, and was disabled before his ALS diagnosis. Accompanied by three grandchildren who live just next door, Richard is still able to be happy and enjoy spending time with his family.
